This Karimikui AB is a truly wonderful example of the highest quality Kenyan coffee being produced in the long established Kirinyaga growing region.  The Karimikui washing station is part if the wider Rung'eto Farmers Co-operative which also includes the Kii washing station, another favourite of ours here at Outpost.  The level of investment and education in this co-operative is particularly high, which has seen the station produce consistently exceptional coffees year on year.

We found this particular coffee on our recent trip to Kenya, where we cupped 100's of coffees over two days.  There were a number of standout coffees, but we felt this one had something special about it, showing a clean, vibrant cup with plenty of interesting berry notes that we love in our Kenyans!

A summary of the vitals:

Region: Kirinyaga District, Kenya

Altitude: 1600 - 1800 meters

Varietals: SL28, SL34

Process: Fully washed and dried on raised african drying beds

Grower: Rung'eto Farmers Co-operative, Karimikui washing station

Flavour notes: In the cup, look for a vibrant grapefruit acidity with strong berry and currant notes, the famous full body expected from high quality Kenyans and a long intense finish.

Cupping Score (SCAA): 88

Suggested Serving: Roasted for filter, but a really interesting espresso.
